In 1972 Codlaw Farms was established as a traditional mixed farm covering Arable, Beef & Sheep. Codlaw Farms is based on Hadrian's Wall near Hexham. 

In 1997 DJ & SJ Enderby was formed under a partnership between James Enderby and his father Daniel Enderby. It is primarily a service based business offering contracting to both the farming community and commercial customers. 

2003 saw the birth of DJ & SJ Recycling which initially entailed recycling digestate on behalf of Northumbria Water. In turn this led to formalising the commitment of the businesses to organics recycling; starting with our permitted green waste composting site established on the farm itself. In 2002 Codlaw farms received granting funding from the Rural Payment Agency - funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which is part of the European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF). This funding formed part of the development to our Compost Production Site.
